A scrappy game at times but a good hitout for both clubs.
Perth won ressies quite easily. No-one really stood out and put a hand up for best 22 round 1 IMO.
Perth ran out winners of the main game by 15 points.
Highlights for me were 2Dads in the ruck and handy around the ground. He took several marks and got involved in moving the ball forward .
What impressed me most was the form of Regan Clarke. He looks as though he will take another step up this year.
Like what I saw of Jye Clark (he can play), Jordan Reid, Oscar Bird, and Kane La Fontaine who played the second half at CHB. The potential is there for this group to push for selection as the season evolves.

I agree with most of that Smokey. DBW looks to have benefited from a big pre season, he looks a lot lighter and more agile and in my opinion should emerge as the clubs No 1 ruckman this year. He starting to take more marks, is very good and agile below his knees and clean with this hands and when he gets the opportunity is a good kick. Reid for me is a bit of a clone of Eryesy so I can't see the two of them in the same side together. A great workhorse though.

Yes Regan Clark and Jye Clarke are going to be good in the midfield and I think Joe Ugle has had a good pre season and put his hand up for selection today. I like the look of Brodie Gray and Simon Haywood in the magoos along with Jack Steel liked the first chance we had to have a look at Sam Stubbs younger brother. Young Benjamin looked good and can also kick a football like his brother.

We were a bit flat footed in the first half but I thought clicked into gear in the second half. Tough conditions today, 36 degrees during the reserves who got the worst of it.

I too thought your ruckman was very good. Both team had patches of ascendency and Perth were better users of the ball and got the chocolates. Great to see Byrne back. Looking at both teams- I thinking kicking a score is going to be the main challenge. Both have strong midfields but turning that into goals is the concern, on what I saw yesterday

We’ve got a few players to come in that will provide avenues to goal like Richardson, Hunter, Stubbs x 2.

DD, for me Richo is the key to our forward line such as it is. He moves around and comes out to link up forward thrusts and he kicks goals.
Hunter is out for 3-4 weeks with a calf injury but is the likely key forward. Sam Stubbs did little yesterday in the ressies to seal a spot in Round 1.
Herein lies our problem. We have no apparent tall forward to take strong contested marks. The Sheriff often gets to the fall of the ball but does not stick his marking opportunities. He is a tad lazy and needs to show more endeavour IMO.
Perhaps we should play Fraser in one of the key forward positions rather than being stuck in a pocket. He is the most likely to stick a few marks or feed the ball to the small forwards.
The problems highlight our continual failure to recruit a strong marking tall forward, the ill-fated recruitment of Loersch notwithstanding.

Seen enough of Stubbs.
Not in our first 22, IMHO.
