October 15 the old girl gets demolished, the Members Stand will be no more. If anyone wants fridges, lighting, bar, furniture then apparently it's all up for sale before then.

Go past there every day been watching the ground slowly dissapear, was thinking what was the hold up with the demo of the stands, the actually oval is still there with goals posts is it still being used?

The oval and goalposts will remain untouched I think. I'd say the delay would be due to bureaucratic red tape especially from all these people that make a buck out of this safety crap nowadays. A few years ago I had to demolish and rebuild a retaining wall at my place and made the mistake of going through council. Took about 3 months of jumping through all sorts of hoops to get the go ahead

Oh yeah mate tell me about it - red tape delays - OH and S bulldust etc..

Theres a few old houses around my area that get demolised from time to time, they sit there for like 6 months awating approval - yet the actual demo takes about 8 hours!

Heard the delay was partially due to council objecting to the removal of the old pine trees at the railway end, didn't give a shit about the beautiful old trees behind the goals. Apparently the new development had an underground carpark that originally had the pine trees being removed, then to appease the council they would alter construction, rejected as it "may" have damaged the pine trees root system. Think they then had to make design adjustment.
Colts and Reserves trained at Claremont Oval during the finals. The actual playing surface looked in fine condition.

Oh well looks like Basso is the only place left with any heritage then..hopefully taking those trees down condemn Claremont to years of pain without success

Thats right mate, hey remember when they pulled down the historic old red brick entrance gates at freo oval in the 80;s - a real piece of WAFL culture gone.

I noticed a few years ago that on the front of the gates at freo oval (the ones to the left of the old grandstand - with the Gero statue) has the year 1986 on the top. Surely its meant to be 1886??? I realised one day that some numbers had fallen off and then a few weeks later up went 1986. WTF??

I know there used to be a sign above the Roleystone Karragullen Cricket Club Pavilion at Cross Park (Ammo's players may have seen it).

The sign above the door read 1828 rather than 1928 (I think the 28 was right). It was changed one night as a joke, and was left because it was so well done.

Maybe someone is trying to drag your club into the 21st century dogman? Now at least you are in the 20th century. Haha, demolish that old grandstand and build a new one in place of the car park along the boundary and you will be in the 21st century.

Mid 2016 is what "Dollar" is saying on the Claremont web page as to when the new facility will be ready.
