Real can of worms for the Wafl season.
Souths have been in the premiership window for a number of seasons.
Won in 20 and runners up in 21..They have little chance of a top two finish, minus 8 Premiership points.
Understand the Wafc are now going to look at other Wafl clubs. They have set a precedent by the big South penelty..If other clubs are caught. They can expect an 8 Premiership points penelty.
Just imagine 3 teams starting the season.Minus 8 Premiership points .

Why could all the South topics not be rolled into one conversation?
A sad state of affairs that Souths will have to suffer.Probably the harshest penalty ever handed down to a WAFL club.
Still Souths are a strong club and will rebound.
but I gota say, some things that have been going onhere make me laugh.

$F CEO has just copped a wrap on the knuckles by the WAFC CEO. Good riddance.

Yes, more to this story than what's been made public knowledge. And is more serious than an "accounting error"
Especially when other clubs have made honest mistakes in recent times. And don't get me started with the shenanigans of a certain franchise!! Pity the damned commission never got tough then?
Going by the article, one of the breaches has been non cash payments made to an injured player. Apparently that has been happening for years at other clubs, it's been strongly rumoured.
Could it be Souths were dobbed in by some-one? Or maybe the damned commission acting like a tough guy?
And apparently South Fremantle simply accepting the penalty makes one wonder, what the real story is. Unusually harsh penalty for an honest 'error' that apparently the club are not challenging.
Would be good to hear what the player has to say but sadly we may never know what really happened or how the audit came about. Apparently no more audits are planned for this season.
Starting the season on minus 8 premiership points is unheard of. With the shortened 18 match seasons nowadays, Souths are up against it even before bouncedown.

well going by the article , all Roberts has done is tell us this player payment was less than 10% of penalty and it's pretty obvious he didn't play so there's no benefit to the club , must have been a pretty small amount
The club should have contacted the WAFC to get this kid the help he needed to just survive before giving assistance that is for sure
so we've had two other clubs who were caught deliberately overpaying interstate players and lesser penalties or at the least not consistent
This mob at the WAFC went after Swan Districts a few years ago and treated them pretty badly and this one is becoming similar

"Roberts accused the Bulldogs of using distraction tactics in the media regarding their “compassionate and humanitarian” payments to a long-term injured player which he said only made up less than 10 per cent of the breach."

Is this the key to it all? The compassionate payment was less than 10% of the actual breach? What was the other 90+% of the breach about ? If The SF CEO continues to make these statements, the WAFC might decide to open the whole can of worms.
Until we all know the full scope of the breach we wont know if the penalty was excessive or not.
