Certainly wasn't in the back of BC's EH shaggin' wagon. :P

Which time?

Twice before it was sealed. First time in the HT wagon in 72. Second time Toyota Hi-Ace mini bus in 76 (just prior to the opening - we could actually see sealed sections, which were blocked off pending the availability of a politician knob to cut the ribbon).

Twice after sealing in the VS Acclaim, in 96 and 98 (give or take a year).

A third time on the unsealed, in 69 as a passenger in a Redline bus from Sydney to Perth.

All of which begs the question is it the end of the Bathurst race? What about all the other v8 racing games? It would make a mockery of everything if holden only made special vehicles for racing?
Will Ford follow? One would hope not!
All the dealers will slowly close I would imagine.

GM will still sell the Camaro to HSV for right hand conversion.Like they currently do with the Ram Trucks.
Camaro will race in the v8's + Bathurst. Without Holden factory backing. That's why they won't sell the Holden name so they can sell flags, hats+tshirts at Bathurst.

My first car was my Pop's Holden LC Torana. Sadly he ended up with Alzeimers. It was your stock standard 173 cc, three on the tree, bench seat, mustard brown colour.

After that a HX van that was turned into a Sandman kinda. Not long after bought my uncles HZ panel van for work.

We had an EK Holden ute that was the farm workhorse. Used to hunt roo's in it.

Had one of the early model Commodores in the early 90's but that was just a bunky.

My last Holden I saved the best til last. Bought a Holden Berlina VY 2004 I think. Was an absolute beauty and had Gas injection fitted. A beautiful car. That's it for me.

Had too many, but here's a photo of one of mine hidden away in the shed.

Very nice keep it in the shed for a few more years.

Have owned a few Holders and helped restore a few over the Years. Hz vacationer with the sweet sounding 4.2 litre v8.A lemon like a lot of Holden in the late 70's+early 80's.
VTSS series1 the last of the 5.0 cast iron V8's,beautiful car.
VY crewman with the 5.7 gen3 V8.With petrol at $1.50 just becomes to expensive as a daily driver.
Helped restore EH sedan,HG 307 chev premier,HR x2,Lx Torana.Have an Lc torana in my brothers shed for a few years now.

Got my licence in 1974 so it was an EH followed by a HR. God I miss bench seats.
Then a 7 year old HT Monaro, tri matic with a black vinyl roof. It just wanted to cruise at 75mph.

Had a young family when the petrol crisis hit so traded it in for $400 on a more cost effective motorbike!
My brother in law still gives to me even now and says if I had to have savings I should have got rid of the wife!!
Then went for the ever reliable Toyotas for 40 years and now it’s a Landcruiser for me and a beemer for her.
The kids have had VL, VE, VS, VZ but as has been said on here went Japanese after too many issues and breakdowns.

I don’t know what was in the heads of Holden, GMH or the governments of the day in not copying what became a very successful business plan of their competitors. Mind you Holden were always going to be stuffed in Australia because of the production costs and a small local market.

I had a couple of Toranas and a few Holdens over the years. Best I had was either the HK 186 Ute - spent most of its life in the Kimberlys and was indestructible. Or it was my 97 VS Commodore. Used to go like the clappers and never cost me a cracker outside of running costs.
We had a discussion at work today. A couple of blokes reckon everyone will be ditching Holdens now - no spares, but I think that they will hang on to the good ones as collector vehicles. What do you think?

Gm by Government legislation are required to see out all new vehicle warrantys. It looks like they will contract this work to a company like Ultra Tune or àutomasters.Supply spare parts through a 3rd party.
The price of 1990's Commodores has been going through the roof the last year.Pre 1980 Holdens are already almost out of reach.Hr sold the other day for 60K.You can still restore a 1968 VE Valiant. With no problem getting parts.
If I was looking for a collectable Holden atm it would be an early Hsv or SS.Vn1989 to Vz 2006.Probably a Ute huge market in the United States when the vehicle is 25 years old.And no longer has the Chicken Tax applied.

Might be a good time to start a Holden wrecking yard if anyone’s got a spare acre in an industrial area. Parts will become a premium.

.

When I was going to Carlisle Tech doing my apprenticeship one of my classmates had an EH sedan. Remember the metal dashboard? He was doing his apprenticeship at MTT (Transperth) and covered his dash with the same cloth material they were using on the modern buses in those days (80-82). But he somehow made the front bench seat recline out flat. :woohoo: :woohoo:
