Understand that, SS. But what amazes, and disturbs me, is that the conservatives don't seem to care if they are caught lying - and the dumb voters don't seem to care either.

Trump has definitely turned politics as we have known it on its head. Bullshit and spin have won the day for the time being - as demonstrated in the US, Oz and now the UK over the past few years.

I have no doubt that in 20 or 30 years when the boffins and PhD students start putting out their theses and analyses of the impact the internet has has on the world in the past 30 years, it will easily surpass the Industrial Revolution.

I probably won't be here, but if OzFooty is still around, remember Jack told you so.;)

Confirmation - if it was needed in your case - of:

Corbyn's policies of wealth redistribution and nationalising certain industries was straight out of Shorty Shorten's playbook....punters didn't buy it here and evidently not in the UK either.

the Labour party got everything it deserved -- the only reason the north and Wales did not vote Tory last time was because they gave the party the benefit of the doubt when it claimed that it supported Brexit. If the Labour had of supported Brexit, it would have been a much closer elcection. Some have tried to say that a Blairite could have won the election, but they are forgetting that, by definition a Blairite, is pro-European; and, as such, given the Brexit majority in the counntry would have gone down like a cup of cold sick.

The election was not about Socialism.

The Scottish vote in the UK election is quiet strange. It was similar in Wa at one stage in the upper house.
Labour 10,250,000 votes for 202 seats..
Tories 13,500,000 voted for 368 seats.
Scottish Nationals 1,130,000 votes for 48 of the 52 Scottish seats...3-3% of the National vote. And just over 38% of the Scottish vote.
The Scottish Government creates about 30% of the revenue it requires to run its government. Mostly from North Sea Oil+Gas royalties. Boris should cut Sturgon free to join the EU.Let them bankroll another bankrupt European small country.

gtr: so true -- as you know she would not win a referendum on those election results: 56 per cent voted for pro-British parties. George Galloway is right on this one, gtr, stating that he has never seen a Scotsman whom was not racist -- this sums up the Scotish nationalist party perfectly, whose spokesmen simply spew Anglophobia with impunity.

Ark that Scottish PM .looks like
the women in the American Democrats. Really nasty and unable to negotiate anything .Having to get there own way all the time.
Just had a look Ark.About 60% of all the remaining North Sea Oil+Gas reserves belong to Norway. The rest is shared by Holland,Denmark,UK+Russia...

gtr: that is right mate: as you know when they had the referendum on the UK, the SNP government of the day, banked everything on a high oil price and did not con enough people in Scotland. One thing is for certain too, gtr, oil prices will remain low under Trump for two reasons. On the one hand he wants to make use of it to prop up the US economy -- a perfectly reasonable aim -- but, equally, on the other hand, he wants to ensure that a low oil price will destroy the Russian economy as far as that is possible without starting a war with Putin.

Your right Sturgeon made a complete prat of herself celebrating that victory over the Liberal leader; her antics would not be tolerated in Australia, the electorate is less infantile here.

Great result a thumping victory for Boris in England and the Tories,

Scotland as I predicted being pro EU supported the SNP in a big way.

And the DUP were justly awarded by losing seats in their bungled handling of Brexit, the deputy leader losing to Sinn Fein, and for the first time ever Northern Ireland now has more Nationalists MPs than Unionists. Great result for England - hopefully they can get talks on unification going over the next decades or so and unload the financial deadloss.
