I believe an attempt to rescue the 12 young soccer players and their coach is now underway. One can only hope that the attempts is successful and all are successfully extricated from the cave with no further loss of life.

I believe so s42. Heavy rainfall is expected within the area later in the week and the rescue team has decided not to wait any longer. The media were told to clear out this morning and all unnecessary vehicles were also moved from the area. Apparently the trapped boys and the coach are some 3 or 4 kilometres along the tunnel from the opening.
Will be fantastic if they can all make it out.

Could take up to 4 days.

Yes. Many people simply don't realise what underground conditions can be like. Some of the passageways are very narrow in parts. Some parts of the flooded tunnel are quite deep and diving in dirty water with no visibility is never easy. The divers will need to bring them along the tunnel singularly I would imagine. Apparently the coach and 2 of the boys are in a weaker condition than the others.

From what I have heard and read there will be two divers per boy. One of the divers will be carrying the oxygen for each of the boys. I expect the two sickest boys and the coach would be the last out given them the best chances to build up their strength as much as possible.

Yep...fingers crossed the poor little buggers all make it out ok...it must be terrifying for them all.

Prayer might not solve problems, but everyone should have special words for these poor children. If they can get everyone out alive it will be an absolute miracle. Not often we see a miracle, time for one....

Apparently the local weather conditions in the area has improved and the rain that was falling earlier in the afternoon has now cleared. I hope the weather stays fine during the rescue. Monsoonal rains can be quite heavy, which is something the rescue team does not need.
Keeping the fingers crossed for the boys and their coach for a safe exit.

Just heard the latest un-confirmed reports that 2 of the thirteen are approx 800 metres from the entrance. If all goes well, should hear some kind of news later tonight at about 2200.
Hoping the operation goes smoothly.

ABC correspondent has also just mentioned that local reputable sources have mentioned that a third may be near the entrance of the cave in chamber 3.
