Mate I have driven up and down there a fair bit, my impression was it was a great road, but the amount of idiots on it is incredible, high speed and taking over bloody mad bastards, it doesn't help that it is now the main drag for tourists heading up to The Pinnacles , many of home are not used to driving on our side of the road and don't get the rules at all.

Bazz I have a fishing shack up at Grey, which is halfway between Wedge island and Cervantes so I'm on that road a lot and one of the big issues is the amount of wildlife on or near the road, the road kill is astonishing, they have a DPAW crew clearing the road every day so it doesn't look bad for the tourists. When they built the road they neglected to include wildlife corridors at specific points under the road. Its mostly through national park so it should have been done. I've had many close up and personal events mainly with emu's but also plenty of big roos. It was built to take the car/caravan traffic off brand Hwy which is twice as dangerous, trucks over a certain size are not permitted on IOD.

getting back to the topic...I'm of the view the full burqa should be banned for security and cultural reasons. if we go to say Saudi Arabia or Iran then we're expected to fully respect their cultural and religious rules and our women have to cover up. why then don't muslims respect our cultural norms and do away with the burqa as it's not worn in Australia by your average Australian female. do we have to be so PC that we accept every other culture's nuances and oddities so as not to upset them? bugger them I say...if you want to wear a burqa go to a country where it's the norm. next thing you know the looney lefties will want us to accept female genital mutilation or under age marriage because it's accepted in other parts of the world.

I repeat read and listen to what those responsible for the security of Australia have to say about stunts like Hanson and whether it aids or restricts that goal Without exception it has been universally condemned by those security agencies. Vilifying a section of the Australian community is a way of ENDANGERING Australians not increasing their safety.

As I have pointed out previously the extrapolation is that we ban all celebrating of Catholic masses in any language other than English. We ban all such clubs as the Italian Club etc.

I agree , the full face covering is totally unacceptable in our society.

What's more this type dress was seen as inappropriate 100 years ago or so even by Muslims, Kemal Attaturk banned it in Turkey and the Persians Shahs banned it in Iran.
Im not sure how it would be enforced, by several European Nations have out in laws to control it.
