News just broken on 6PR that Jobe Watson has handed in his Brownlow. Probably the most honorable thing to do probably knowing he would have it stripped off him anyway. I've got mixed feelings about it. I think he's a decent bloke and champion footballer and is just one of the victims of James Hirds desire to be a successful coach at any cost, or as the slogan said, Whatever it takes!

Congratulations Sam Mitchell, 2012 Brownlow medalist. West Coast should be early fancies in 2017 with two Brownlow medallists suiting up.

Last month the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland dismissed the appeal mounted by lawyers representing my teammates and I. This may represent finality of this matter from a legal perspective, however the reality is that for the players and our families it is something that we will continue to carry with us.

The negative impact it has had should not define who we are, however I believe it has undoubtedly changed us in various ways.

It is with mixed emotions that I have decided to hand back my 2012 Brownlow Medal.

It is now up to the AFL Commission at their meeting on Tuesday to make a decision as to what they want to do with it.

The basis of my decision links back to values. Football has always been a part of my life, from being a young boy watching my dad play, to my own ambitions of pursuing a dream to play at an elite level. I have benefited from being brought up in a community where people strive to be the best they can be and bring out the best in others. It has been incredibly distressing for me to have people question my integrity and infer an intention to act against the spirit of the game, a spirit that is intrinsically a part of who I am.

The basic principle behind this prestigious award is to honour the fairest and best. If there is a question in peoples minds as to whether the award is tainted, the fairest and best thing to do is to give it back and honour the history that has gone before me.

I want to make it clear that today’s decision does not in anyway reflect a change in my personal opinion regarding the merits of the CAS finding, but rather reflects my desire to put to a close further speculation about what should be done with the 2012 Brownlow Medal.

One of the most frustrating elements of this entire process has been my belief that many of the decisions in this matter have been based on perception rather than evidence. I would like to share my thoughts with the AFL Commission, however that needs to be at a time and in a forum that is right for me.

Makes people wonder if other KNOWN drug users want to hand their medal back?

Not surprised its taking this long any other sporting body would of taken the medal or award away when found guilty, no not the AFL trying to manufacture the outcome again.

Will be interesting in future years if TB-4 gets taken off the banned list it was not specifically listed on in 2012 when Jobe allegedly was fed the stuff...but that is an 'if'so for the moment the right decision has been taken and respect to Jobe for being big enough for making it...what must have been an extremely heartbreaking conclusion to come to personally

Well Jimmy said he took nothing illegal, BUT when asked what they took he couldnt answer???, so if ya dont know what he took, how do ya know if it wasnt illegal???

Can only go on what players copped a ban for Unk...after 3 1/2 years of investigation TB-4 was the only banned substance they were done for possibly using even though at the time of use it wasn't specifically listed. If in future they remove it from the PED list then Jobe will have an argument but only under that circumstance...going by your theory all future players will have to be qualified chemists so they can analyse and manufacture their own supplements to be absolutely sure of what they all continue to put in their bodies with trust of all current supplement (and to a lesser extent food) manufacturers...they are all utilising supplements at some level so there is a level of trust required which is much the same as what the E34 had broken by their employers
