Fyfe landed at Melbourne Airport 5.30pm today & will have an operation on his leg possibly tomorrow. Same leg as last year's injury. Looks certain to miss the rest of this year.

Gee you would have to wonder about Fyfes long term prognosis if he has fractured the same leg in the space of 6 months. Freo need to put him in cotton wool for the rest of this year and then manage his return in 2017 very carefully.

I take it no specialist surgeon here comes close?

That's a good reflection on the ex Health Minister. No one at Fiona Stanley who could help Nat then?!

Grassy mate, you don't need to turn everything into a political witch hunt. The likely fact is that the Melbourne doctor has worlds best practice for this type of injury and chose to set up in Melbourne because most of the elite footballers are based there or an hours flight away. Freo are doing the right thing by sending their best player for the best available care. I'm sure FSH has some terrific surgeons but maybe not the best in Australia. I know a senior practitioner in the transplant section at FSH and she said most of the media reports are a beat up, yes there are building issues as there is in any $4 bill building which is massively complex, the same as is happening with the new Adelaide hospital but the media chooses not to report the similar problems happening in a comparable health facility that happens to be in a labour state ........... go figure.

The simple answer is, the doctor that dealt with his leg the first time he stuffed it is currently in Melbourne so Mr Manbun is off to Melbourne. I believe he is also out of contract at the end of next year so he will be meeting with some eastern states clubs no doubt.

If I was Freo I'd be saying to Fyfe that his season is done, lets face it the club is done and dusted as far as finals go so put him in cotton wool, he can then be cherry ripe for a full pre-season and hopefully lead the Dorks to a finals campaign in '17. Absolutely no point risking him for what is now a rebuilding exercise for the balance of the season.

As one of the most exciting genuine all round footballers we've seen come thru the ranks in many years lets hope Fyfe can overcome his leg problem(s). Would be sad for the game to see someone of his ilk be tempered by injury his whole career. Fingers crossed for the lad.

anchorman wrote: OS, Where do you get the idea that the Doctor who operated on Fyfe last time got it wrong!!! The injury this time around is the same leg, but a different position
I would be very interested to know.I think you must be privvy to something that only you know.

You might need to read my post again, didn't say the doctor got it wrong, I said he's using the same Doctor he used the first time he (Fyfe) stuffed his leg

Spot on Seagull, he resumed light training far too quick. It needs time to knit. Likewise so did Gary Ablett. They think it is OK.
