Read a little about this earlier today Southy... tbh id never heard of him but in saying that i dont often pay much attention to the eagles list or watch their games.,.Would be interested to know if as a young kid he came across to the Eagles from the east and amongst his elder peers at his new club found peer pressure to indulge in this type behaviour under club leadership influence or if with his footy career not reaching the heights he hoped for on returning home he found an out . If the former that's a whole another level of disgrace that should be aimed at the known tarnished more than a few ex premiership players. Did hanging out with his mate and skipper at the time ruin his AFL prospects? Whatever path he has taken to get to this position ultimately it's been his choices than led him there but being around the Eagles in the mid 2000s as a young kid clearly hasn't helped.

According to a mate of mine who was involved with WP at the time the alleged fella above was playing there he reckons he is the only player he has seen in 40 years involvement who applied foundation make up to his face before a game!

Sure he might have been recruited (and never played a game) by WCE but what has that got to do with anything? You dont know the facts behind him or why and how he got into this mess, so how do you know that he wasnt already into this kind of stuff?

Got a lot to do with it , the kid was shown that some pretty ordinary behaviour can be rewarded with a cover up until a premiership was in the bag then action was taken everybody knows it
Read cox's book even he stated that players should have done a lot more , a lot earlier
As for my hatred of them - so be it & I have no regret at all mate , the local footy is way better to attend & support

I indicated in my previous post I don't know anything about this kid so for that reason it's hard to pass judgement but if and I repeat if your former skipper and those few relevant team mates have introduced him to meth use as a young impressionable kid and possibly ruined his footy career in doing so let alone his future just maybe the Eagles hierarchy should look at crossing these few irresponsible former players off all of their honour rolls. I also acknowledge that he may have developed his issues pre or post Eagles and for the reason wrote "I'd be interested to know if"

Yolo I'm a life long Bombers supporter mate and in recent seasons have copped it from all ends, rightly or wrongly so is still up for debate at the convened tribunal where some players careers and footy reputations are on the line. If found guilty its most likely these 34 Essendon players have ultimately been misled by people put in positions of trust. All but the coach and Doc have lost their jobs because of this. I think this is also relevant to the Eagles hierarchy who have admitted they failed to pay attention to the early warning signs until it was too late with regards to players meth habits. Habits they clearly indulged in during a premiership year which although i dont believe this drug could ever enhance performance in the long term did it in the short term. This is an issue the AFL has swept under the carpet for years by not having an independent investigation simply because the drug meth is classified as a recreational drug issue and in my belief has been filed in the too hard basket simply because the fall out would be even more damaging than the essendon saga. imagine a headline from Caro Wilson "West Coast Meth Heads Win the Premiership" going around the sporting world back then with a blackest day in Australian Sport press conference to boot. Bombers players have never admitted to taking banned substances and have won nothing in recent years whereas former Eagles players are on record and have published in one instance admittance that they were using meth in and around the premiership season of 2006 yet still no investigation simply because the WADA code doesn't seem interested in investigating illegal narcotics like meth. A complete joke when this whole Essendon saga was initially sold to us on the premise that ASADA were investigating alleged criminal links to drugs in sport. In reality this has been all about Investigations in to one man, dank, who going by Leigh Mathews words and the AFL recommendation was one of the most sought after and respected sports scientist in the country. Meanwhile your guys were hanging out with Kizon & Co in full light of the public and police. A complete double standard and yes I do believe not only is the 2006 premiership tarnished because of 5-6 senior players drug taking (maybe more in reality) but that your club has got away with defrauding the game because it failed to act on known drug use during a Premiership year. Why didn't they test positive, well Ben explained the fear of that in his book and how he tried to beat the system. I recall you be very harsh on Essendon last year on this forum and we are basically under investigation for immune boosters during a season we finished midfield. Your club won the flag during a period of where more than a few of your players have admitted (don't forget dean Coxs revelations) sustained use of amphetamine yet have dodged the bullet of not even being investigated by the AFL let alone ASADA. The integrity of that entire season deserves debate.
