Wrong mate they will get $20000 for playing this game as LOSERS..

Cardy. How the hell does that work!?
Are all the teams paid whether they win or not? I thought it was the winner of the Grand Final and the loser of the Grand Final were paid a certain amount?
Obviously I'm missing something?

Pretty sure there is a consultation prize for the losers in the finals mate.
Could even apply to the other games at a lesser scale but not sure.

It has an interesting history with the prize money only recently be upgraded to 100,000 to the winner ...It was 60,000 and the comp was showing to be such a Success the AFL gave it another 5 years.. I am sure the decision will be made end 2016 as to whether it continues.

Another bit of trivia is in 2013 When West Adelaide won it they split the money amongst the players even though they almost went into receivership that year. (must of owed the players a bit of money methinks ;)
indaily.com.au/news/2013/08/05/sanfl-clu...-faces-legal-threat/

That was the year they beat EF... It pissed down from memory.

I am sure I read the Foxtel prize money is $250,000 so if you take the 140,000 out of that there is a bit left over...

Oh I see.
Wonder why that is not more widely known? Just did a quick internet search and saw the 250 grand figure mentioned. But unable to find how the remaining prize pool is divided up? 250 G's subtract the 140 for the 2 teams in the Grand Final leaves a hundred and ten grand remaining. I wonder how the 110 grand is divided?

No affect whatsoever, they looked slick, WP will start at long odds to beat them in Melbourne

Kirbs keep up with it... We Beat Box Hill in Melbourne and they are currently top of the wozza over there. They had a good side against us including 9 Hawthorn players as well... WP will put up a good fight i assure you.
Geelong worries me and our current postition in the WAFL will make for some hard decisions but we have been in the Foxtel cup for 2 years now and getting used to it.
Box Hill are above Williamnstonw a non affiliated club in The VFL..

Even money bet and I bet you Williamstown will go out very confident of winning which is a bad thing to do..

Have a look at the finals over the last few years as well... CLA won a Foxtel or was it 2 against good sides. EF challenged on a shit of a night in a final
Etc etc..

Looking forward to the game and it will be close. 40,000 is better that a kick in the arse though. B)

Just been a realist Cardy, hope WP win, but Williamson were impressive and have a home non travel factor advantage.

Can you list who the 9 Hawks who played for Box Hill were as not sure any have had much AFL exposure

I think it will be a contest but WP if they have sniff at the WAFL 4 will rest a lot of players..
Lets remember it is only 18 minute qtrs - almost a training run compared to a full WAFL game.

Now my bitch is the WP Football club approached EP to make the Saturday game a Sunday game.. E.G WP play on Tuesday night and then up again on Saturday.
EP said no to the proposal... Feral pricks
WP approached the WAFL as their is a ruling in place where teams must have a 5 day break between games. This was actually bought in to appease the AFL clubs who had players at Host clubs.
WAFL reply was No sorry thats the way it goes. So they now break their own rules..

Other option WP goes for the $100,000 and writes the Saturday game off as a loss as we can lose a couple and to be honest we could put a weak side in V Williamstown and most probably lose on Saturday anyway..

Anyway listen to Bill talk about What lengths the club went to on WAFL WORLD from this morning.. If you dont want to listen to the stuff his interview is about half way through the show..

Click on this link... Bill Talks Foxtel at the 29 MIN mark you can move the slider along

www.sportfm.com.au/20140704_wafl_world.mp3

Now lets get technical... WP puts a weak team in (if thats possible :) ) and lose we can then be fined by Foxtel for not using a competative team..
It happened to West Adelaide when they were beaten by Tassies Storm. Reason being West Adelaide Norwood had 3 games in 8 days so had no choice. But fined they were.

Other option we put our full league side in v Williamstown and win... Great. Then on Saturday put a token side in due to soreness of the league guys etc etc.
Shock surprised we get THRASHED... The WAFL then fines us for bringing the game into disrepute :( All hypothetical but the way things are going at the moment NOT IMPOSSIBLE..

Never mind about the Wafl fining clubs for bringing the game into disrepute!
You don't have to fear that.
The whole bloody competition is now in tatters! Should be the other way around.
