We are born.live+die..If we make it to a grand age and get to a nursing home.Dieing in your sleep.Is way better than being suffocated by covid..

Correct GTRX its a very simple game plan we are adhering too which is minimizing the spread of infections till we all get vaccinated which is hopefully just around the corner,and my biggest concern is the efficacy of the Pommy vaccine which is rated around the 60% mark which is a bit of a worry.

Royal it's about 68% after the initial jab and better after the follow up. Need to remember that the annual flu jab is on average barely better than 50%, so 68% seems pretty reasonable. I see that ScoMo has contracted fan additional 10 million more Pfizer jabs on top of the original 10 mill so thats another 5 million of us that can get that one, roughly
40% of the population can get the 90+% vaccine, which will just about cover all the frontline workers those in aged care and the over 65's like me.

Well S.S. im heartened to hear the efficacy touted for the Pommy vaccine will be alot greater after the second jab as i was under the impression the 60% was after both injections and didn't realize the normal flu jab[which i've never taken]is around 50%.

7 days now and not one person tested positive apart from the security guard. Surely we can bring an end to the mask wearing and tight restrictions before Feb 14.

That's exactly what should of happened, isolate and test all the close contacts monitor that. NSW do it well, we need a National Standard for a "hot spot" By last Monday the first spreader cases would of already have been coming up in the close contacts, by mid week it was obvious if you look at the stats and probability on this that community spread was not occurring as as the days rolled on the probability became less and less.

You cant keep hitting the panic button with no evidence for 1 case.

The medical advice is never made public, McClown would of been given a number of options, it was his call to go code red.

It was a political lockdown not a safety one, as was said on Insiders on Sunday.

And if one was a cynical person, did the wa state govt recieve extra commonwealth funding for going into lockdown.

Yes I think a lesson has to be learned here, I must admit I thought going hard early was the right call, especially given it was diagnosed as the UK variant. But for some strange reason he has not spread it, even to his closest contacts so no state can afford to hit the panic button again and go full blown lockdown unless the spread shows up early and in significant numbers. Even so if only a handful of people get it use the tools now available to contact trace and deal with those.

If it gets out of hand then go into lockdown. He should bring an end to mask wearing from today as an option.

Agreed DD. A full lockdown should be a last resort not the first. We need to learn from and apply the lessons from here, interstate and overseas, and act accordingly instead of going for the draconian options which have worked in the past but under different circumstances than the present.

I assume no new cases today. I can't find anything on it. We better be going back to stage 4 restrictions (2sqm) rule we has before this 1 case after Feb 14 or I'll go off my tree.
