My uncle was involved in this. He has told me about it a few times. The approach was made at the end of the 1980 season. Summerville & Ron Webster were the club delegates. Their idea was to have 2 WANFL teams in the VFL.

Was there any suggestion as to who the other team would be? (Probably Swans ;)

Never finalised but your mob were discussed from what I’ve been told.

Demonstrably the host club alignment has been an unmitigated failure for the two WA domiciled AFL clubs. Clearly and demonstrably the host club alignment has prostituted the integrity of the WAFL as evidenced by the farce of the last two WAFL GF victories by what was in essence a Fremantle team.

The less than august body that is responsible for those decisions is the WAFC. Those decisions have negatively impacted the integrity, viability and competitiveness of the WAFL clubs.

This is exacerbated by the decision to remove in all but name the colts' teams from the WAFL. I expect that the WAFC will make the decision that all four colts' games will be played at the same venue in 2019.

Another decision that the WAFC will make is for the Reserves will play at around 9.00 am on Saturday followed by a women's match with the aim of alienating enough reserves' players who will leave their respective WAFL clubs and as a consequence make the reserves' competition not viable and the reserves' competition will be scrapped in 2020. I will add that the Swans Districts Football Club is complicit in that given what they have agreed to in terms of the fixturing of matches against Perth next week end.

The alignment wound not of happened if only the Eagles wanted it either, got any political issues you want to raise on the thread while your at it?

Your hatred of Fremantle Dockers is clouding your judgment. The Eagles RUN footy in WA. I repeat if Freo only wanted the alignment it WOULD NOT have happened.

Absolute rubbish 42 Fremantle are just as complicit as WCE in this they are not just riding shotgun........in fact Fremantle could be considered worse as at least WCE have allowed the NGA boys to stay at their original WAFL clubs (although with todays news that may change) unlike the other mob you have a soft spot for!
