With all the drug furore and constant scrutiny, I would have thought that they would have cleared it with the AFL. Surely they know not to guess whether it's legal or not. The evidence is becoming damning and we may end up with our own Lance Armstrong.

By quite amusing if the Golden Boywas pinged eh!

Surely not...the darling of the AFL? Tsk tsk tsk. I thought that the fatman and his cronies would try to get their boy out of it. Trouble is, there's too much poo flying around for Jimmy not to cop some of it.

Well they hammered the Eags 58 (see i aint that biased mate), and should equally hammer Essington....Hird or no Hird!!

Agree unk. Eagles got what they deserved and were very lucky they didn't cop it a lot harder. When you look back at what's happened in some clubs since then and the lack of action by the AFL, it tells me that it isn't an even playing field. Hence my concern the "clean" club and golden boy will escape fairly well unscathed.

Agree !!. AFL is a greedy money making machine. Going "hard" on the Eags was correct and at the same time they (afl) could puff thier chest out....why??, cos 40,000 will still go every week to Subi and the "business" loses zip.Now Essington and in Vic where the "head office" of the business is, turns over the most for the busines....sooooo we dont "want" one of the crown jewels of the business to fall away ( be found guilty) specially when one of its major "brands" (jimmy hird) is on the line.

anchorman wrote: As I said in another post,I think they are two totally different issues. The Eagles were using Illegal and criminal drugs or allegedly.
The Bombers are allegedly using performance enhancing drugs.
To me two totally different scenarios.
but I also said it is time the Fatman stepped aside and STFU about what is happening and going to happen. He is privy to information and is commenting where he shouldn't be.If the Essendon FC and James Hird aren't allowed to comment then the Fatman should also be gagged to keep his mouth shut. All he is doing is stoking the fire.
The Hawks were not done and didn't suffer like the Eagles but should have. They handled it differently to the Eagles.
I am sure given the chance to do it differently the Eagles would have. But they tried to sweep it under the carpet.
I know some one is going to say, what about my mob.But it was one player, that we as followers of the game,we were told about. And I think the Dockers handled it the right way.But that is only my opinion on it.
But I think the Fatman should zip his mouth and stop inflaming the situation.

So what you're hinting at anchor, is that Jimmy and esserden (and perhaps a couple of other clubs) should be treated differently? Do you mean there are drugs and then there are drugs? I always thought drugs is drugs.

Hird is in a lot of trouble, these latest text messages are pretty tame compared to what are going to come out next week, Caroline Wilson is usually spot on with her calls having predicted the Melbourne tanking findings and the CEO's departure before any other journo imo he is very lucky to still have his job.
Have a crack at Dank all you like he was appointed by Hird and his cronies, do you honestly think he would make these accusations without proof he would be perjuring himself and face serious litigation, the way i look at it Dank's career is ruined and he's going to take people and clubs down with him.

Lance Armstrong was a nice guy as well look how that turned out, dont be fooled by the golden child.

Your on the money here Pete, as time goes on this will get murkier and murkier.

I think we should just run its course.

Im pretty sure it will get murkier and murkier and all sorts of stuff will come out.

While I am not liking what I am hearing so far about Hird and EFC, I think we should just let it run its course.

So far from what I can tell Hird has been caught out twice now being economical with the truth.

But lets leave it to the investigators.

What is particularly disappointing in this is the part played by some media. There is patently a conflict when it comes to Hird and the Victorian media. He is a 'golden child' when it comes to the media in Victoria. When Hird was on the Foxtel programme 'On The Couch' his opinion of Freo was an informed opinion unlike a significant number in the media.

We have people like Rebecca Wilson claim the handling of the investigation is a disgrace and it is nothing but a storm in a teacup. Compare and contrast G Whately's comments that is will be far more dire than people think.

The Big D should, in my opinion, not have suggested that Hird step down publically - even though he may have been suggesting that for Hird's health.

My belief is that when all of this is over there will be a number of players and officials who will have adverse findings and consequently will be suspended.

Its difficult to sort the wheat from the chaff in all this, very few of us if any know exactly how deep this all goes, even fewer of us know the medical and scientific reasoning behind many of these substances.

There is no doubt in my mind that Hird is being looked after, he is just that sort of a bloke. He has massive resources financial and legal behind him to put up a huge fight.

But at this stage it is still to uncertain who is in the right and wrong.

I watched 360 and The Couch last night and get a very strong feeling that Jimmy the Injector will get a knighthood when all this blows over. Gee he's a good actor though....
